Annie is the oldest child of Felix Grundy and Martha Jane (Foster) Walker's ten children. She was born in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois. The following year the family moved to Texas where her brother, Franklin Owen was born in 1868. The family (consisting of her parents, brother and 3 more 1/2 siblings whose mother had died), homesteaded to Chariton County, Missouri. Her parents established a farm in-between the towns of Brunswick and Keytesville. For several years, while her father was building the barn and house, they lived in tents. In 1880, the family relocated to another farm within Chariton County. Anna's first child was Ella, born 1885 in Chariton County, Missouri. To her dying day, she kept the identity of Anna's father a secret.

Annie married Thomas B. Pinkston. Their son was Berry "Junior". In 1936, Junior lost his battle with cancer of the lymph nodes. He was only 17.

Annie and Tom lived their entire lives in the Brunswick, Missouri area.
