Ramon T. "Ray" Castillo , 54, went home to be with the Lord Sept. 15, 2006.

He was born July 21, 1952 to Ramon and Flora Castillo. Ray was born, raised and died in Springerville. He loved and served his community as a member of the Springerville City Council for 10 years. For 28 years, Ray headed up and played in his own country western music band, "Ray and the Sunsets." Anyone not knowing his name would immediately recognize him when the band name was mentioned. To Ray his band members were his second family and members have always held a special place in his heart.
Ray had a wonderful sense of humor. His death is a loss to the community. His family will miss him.
He leaves behind a loving family; wife, Edde Castillo, Springerville; mother, Flora Castillo, Springerville; sons, Ray Ray (April) Castillo and David (Alana) Castillo; daughters, Loretta Castillo and Farrah Castillo; brothers, Charley (Sue) Castillo and Willie Castillo; 10 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his dad, daughter and grandson.
"Dad, we love you and will miss you!"
A rosary was recited for Ray Monday, Sept. 18 at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The funeral mass was Tuesday, Sept 19, also at St. Peters.
Burnham Mortuary, Eagar, handled the arrangements.
