Janet was my mother's younger sister, and my godmother. She didn't always get along with folks but she always gave me special treatment.

There is a photo of the sisters when Janet was only about 3. Joyce, the elder has a death grip on Janet's forearm and a look of determination to "control the child". I'm sure she had to get tough to compete with her domineering big sister.

Janet was married twice. Her first husband was Daniel Chavez. They had 2 sons, Robert and Michael. Danny was killed in an accident driving a logging truck. Her second husband was Jack Leroy Smith. They had no children.

Obituary:

Janet passed away with family at her bedside on Friday evening, March 20, 2009. Janet was the daughter of Robert and Kathyrne Tacadena and resided in California her entire life.

After graduating from Edison High School in 1953, she worked 39 years for the County of Fresno. She was a devoted and hard working employee whose sense of humor brought joy to many of her coworkers.

Her hobbies included shopping, collecting angels, and bringing joy to all those around her. She will be greatly missed and remain forever 29 in the eyes of her friends and family.

Janet is preceded in death by her mother, father; and two sisters, Roberta Mae Bohannon and Ruth Joan Tacadena.

She is survived by two sisters, Kathy Ann Lopez, and Joyce Louise Graham; her four children, Daniel Tacadena, Paula Gammariello, Michael Chavez, and Roberta Smith; seven grandchildren, Jon Tacadena, Cathy Tacadena, Briana Wiles, Chuck Chavez, Courtney Gammariello, Joshua Gammariello, and Sophie Gammariello; and one great-grandchild, Liam Tacadena.

Visitation will be held at Farewell Funeral Service on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at 1:00 p.m.

Interment will follow at Belmont Memorial Park.
