BALLINGER - W.F. "Dub" Houston, 85, of Paint Rock passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo.
He was born April 2, 1922, in Paint Rock to William Forrest and Ella Powell Houston. He graduated Paint Rock High School in 1940 and attended Tarleton State University until entering the Army Air Corps in 1942. He married Dorothy Lee Davidson of Dallas on Aug. 29, 1942, in San Angelo. After the war, he returned to Paint Rock and operated the H & B Grocery Store and ranched. Along with Hilton Stephenson and Marion M. Sansom, he began operating Paint Rock Wool Warehouse and Feed Store in 1957. He retired from business in 1983. He was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge, all in Paint Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by five sisters, Connie Russell, Lois Currie, Fern Hibler, Bill Davis, and Ann Stephenson.

Mr. Houston is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 65 years; daughters Pam Franke and husband Manoah of Paint Rock; Kay Ware and husband Don of Sweetwater. Also surviving are grandchildren Amanda Seymore and husband Tim of Jayton, Kris Accardo and husband Joseph of Killeen, Angela McGlothlin and husband Bobby of Abilene, Houston Franke and wife, Cindy, of San Angelo; Scott Ware and wife, Alyssa, of Abilene; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There was a time of visitation from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the First Methodist Church in Paint Rock with Pastor Wilbur Ormond officiating. Burial, with Masonic graveside service, will follow in the Paint Rock Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Houston Franke, Scott Ware, Tim Seymore, Bobby McGlothlin and Joseph Accardo; and friend Al Lovell. Arrangements are under the direction of Lange Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to West Texas Rehab, the First Methodist Church of Paint Rock, or to a favorite charity.
