A native of Kansas, Mrs. SCHARF was raised in Salem. She taught school for several years at Ankeny Hill, between Salem and Albany, before moving to the Middle Grove area northeast of Salem. From l938 to l958, she was a correspondent for The Oregon Statesman.
She moved to McMinnville in l962 following the death of her husband, William.
She was a charter member of Middle Grove Evangelical Church, and member of Marion County Extension Service, Amity Club and Farmers Union.
Survivors include son, Harry, Salem; daughter Katherine THOMPSON, McMinnville; one brother, one sister, six grandchildren and l2 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Middle Grove Evangelical Church and interment in Howell Prairie Cemetery, west of Silverton. The family suggests contributions to the church. Howell-Edwards-Doerksen
