Betsy Jean Whiteside Lacy, 63, of Lampasas, passed away Saturday morning, October 12, 1996, at her residence.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Lampasas with Minister Reid Schaub officiating. Burial was in Sipe Springs (in Comanche County) later Monday afternoon at 3:00 directed by Brigs Gamel Wilcox Funeral Director in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lacy was born April 6, 1933 in Comanche County, the daughter of Jack Plott Whiteside and Opal Brown Whiteside. Mrs. Lacy was a graduate of Rising Star High School and Texas Women's University. Betsy married Jack Lacy December 19, 1953 in Sipe Springs.

Mrs. Lacy was an extension service agent with the Texas A&M extension service, serving in that capacity in Coleman and Lampasas. She had several state winners in 4-H while working with young people during her career. She was also in private business with Burnell Hamilton for 29 years. They owned and operated Anne's Ladies Shop, The Other Place, The Shoe Shack. In addition Mrs. Lacy was a real estate agent broker.

She was preceded in death by her father Jack Whiteside in 1985.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Lacy of Lampasas, one son and daughter-in-law Wade Lacy and Louise of Highlands near Houston; her mother, Opal Whiteside of Sipe Springs; brother and wife, Robert Whiteside and Dorothy of Sipe Springs; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Lacy of Cisco, and Lenora Newton of Victoria; five nieces and two nephews; and a number of other relatives also survive.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or The Scholarship Fund for the Lampasas County Youth Livestock Show.
