Myrtle Carton Burris, age 81, of Monticello, Ky., passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the Wayne County Hospital. She was born August 21, 1927 in Monticello, Ky., the daughter of the late David Carton and Willie Bertram Carton. She married Paul Burris, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son-Steve Burris of Monticello, Ky.; one daughter-in-law-Jeanette Burris of Somerset, Ky.; one sister-Rose Shearer; one step-granddaughter-Shannon Corder of Monticello, Ky,; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son-Charles Richard Burris; four brothers-Fred, Elmer, Emmett, and Esco Catron; and two sisters-Dona Hucaby and Lucy Bertram.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. David Flagler and Bor. Keith McKim officiating. Burial followed in Elk Spring Cemetery. Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
