Wilda F. Achenbach, 95, Atlanta, died at 5:02 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2009 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood. She was born March 21, 1914 in Omega, Indiana to Ray & Grace (Bangle) Calhoun. On April 20, 1935 she married Cedric F. Achenbach and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1973.
She was a farmer and a member of the Omega Christian Church. Wilda graduated from Atlanta High School in 1932. She enjoyed crocheting and reading.
Wilda is survived by one son, Robert F. Achenbach and wife Beverly, Atlanta; two sisters, Mary Clemons, Strawtown and Martha "Jimmie" Lee, Strawtown; two grandsons, Mark A. Achenbach, Atlanta and Robert Kip Achenbach, Hobbs; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Leetha Hines.
Her funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 at Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Neal Brown presiding. Burial will be in Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family would like flowers omitted and instead memorial contributions made to either the Omega Christian Church, 12763 East 281st Street, Arcadia, Indiana 46030 or the Humane Society of Tipton County, P.O. Box 237, Tipton, Indiana, 46072.
