"Maude Dunlap's father Frank Newton Dunlap was born Jan. 1, 1855 at Blunt(sic) County, Tennessee, where he grew to manhood.

Maude's mother Amanda Hackney Dunlap, was born May 15, 1858 at Friendsville, Tennessee. She passed away Jan. 24, 1953 at Ovid Colo.

Frank Dunlap married Amanda Hackney Sept. 11, 1888. After the wedding they moved to Waverly, Illinois. The move from Illinois to Sutton, Nebr. was made by Frank in a covered wagon. After providing a home he sent for his wife, Amanda. They farmed at Sutton until 1910.

Even while he was farming at Sutton, Nebr., he had the urge to go farther west. He then bought land south east of Julesburg, Colo. There were no buildings on the land, so his family lived in Julesburg. He farmed the land three years, these were hard years. They experienced all the hardships of the pioneer farmers. One of the experiences was having a wheat crop and having it devoured by range cattle.

He then bought land south of Sedgwick, Colo. The land was later farmed by his son-in-law Henry Johnson."
