Our much beloved "Uncle Wheat", Pendell dropped the James Levi from his full given name sometime in his adult life. He was the son of Raleigh Harmon Wheatley and Nora G. Patterson Wheatley.

He lived in rural Ellis county, between Bardwell and Howard. He married his high school sweetheart, Frankie Mae Howard on December 12, 1917 in Waxahachie, Texas. They had one son, James Rex Wheatley who died at age three months.

Uncle Wheat raised cotton and also keep the books at the Howard Cotton Gin. He was a member of the Bardwell Masonic Lodge.

He was a faithful husband and a good son to his aged mother Nora. He always had a smile for us kids and loved us as his own.

May you rest in peace, "Uncle Wheat". I love you, Gloria
