James, or "Uncle Ewell", as we knew him was the son of Edward Porter Clark and his second wife, Lettia Roberts Aldridge Clark. He married Rachel Goderis Geirland, a native of Belgium. They had no children.
Uncle Ewell and Aunt Rachel operated a hotel in Corpus Christi. His half brothers Walter, Ed, & Harvey were commercial fishermen there in the Gulf.
Ewell served in WWII as a Corporal in the U. S. Army Air Corps.
