Funeral services for Mrs. August A. (Alta May) Anderson 83, a lifetime resident of Bedford were held February 25 in Shum-Novinger Funeral Home here with Carl Cummings officiating. Mrs. Anderson died February 22, 1979 in Rosary Hospital in Corning, Iowa. Internment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford. Alta May Canon Anderson daughter of John and Syrena Canon, was born at Bedford, Iowa, November 15, 1895. She lived in Bedford, Iowa all her life where she attended public school and the Christian Church.On October 13, 1920, she was united in marriage with August A. Anderson at Bedford, Iowa and they lived in Bedford. Ten children were born to this union: Carl, Hilma, Helga, John, Agnes, David, Signe, Ted and Alfred, an infant daughter died in infancy.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband August A. Anderson; A son John Anderson; and a brother, Charles Canon.Left to cherish her memory are four daughters: Hilma Burke of Lansing, Kansas, Helga Widner of Anderson, Missouri; Agnes Bonema of Chicago, Illinois; Signe Pace of Bedford, Iowa; four sons: Carl Anderson of Winterset, Iowa; David Anderson of Lee Summit, Missouri; Ted Anderson of Corning, Iowa; and Alfred Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters: Edna Sutherland of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Cora Ayers of Shenandoah, Iowa; one brother, Leon Cannon of Maryville, Missouri; 36 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was a member of the Christian Church and her family and friends will remember her as a kind and considerate mother and she will be sadly missed by all who new and loved her.
