DANTE, VIRGINIA – Vernie Leftwich, 33, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon, Virginia.

He was born in Wise County, Virginia; son of the late Carter Glen and Brenda Sue Long Leftwich. He was a life long resident of Dickenson County. He was preceded in death by a niece, Brenda "Annie" Leftwich.

He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Blankenship of Pound, Virginia; one sister, Elizabeth Jessee of Fluvana County, Virginia; grandmother, Velma Leftwich of Trammel, Virginia; and several aunts, uncle, and cousins.

Funeral Services for Vernie Leftwich will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2008 in Trammel Baptist Church, Trammel, Virginia with the Rev. Darrell Milgrim officiating. Interment will follow in Neece Cemetery, Bear Ridge Section of Dickenson County, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Wade Cromer, Ralph Dunford, Richard Howard, Dean Counts, Rob Howard, and Sidney Leftwich.

The body will be taken to Trammel Baptist Church, Trammel, Virginia, at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008 where the family will receive friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Velma Leftwich, 11238 Dante Mountain Road, Dante, Virginia 24237.
