James Edward Wheeler was the son of James Harrison Wheeler and Elizabeth (Ramey) Wheeler. He was the grandson of James Moses Wheeler and Eleanor Fairleah (Harrison) Wheeler. He was a farmer and Baptist minister at Cains Creek and Forks of Hood Baptist churches and was also an early member of the Jake Rice Masonic lodge in Blaine. He left KY to live in MN and preach here for several years before returning to KY where he died of Pneumonia. His wife Carmlet later left with his sons to live in Bellingham WA where she is buried. He was originally buried in the Wheeler cemetery just south of Cherokee which was relocated to the Yatesville memorial Gardens when Yatesville Lake was constructed.
