I thought maybe people would love to hear how the Blands & the Baileys met. I believe the Baileys came to Dallas in 1926 and the Blands moved to Dallas in 1937. The two mothers had the same name Winnie Inez Bland and Winnie Inez Bailey what a coinsident. In June 1937 the Blands and the Baileys met through a cousin name Marvin who had come for a visit and their friendship continued though out the years with them taking many trips together. In 1938 Jimmie and Delores where sharing a pepsi cola, Jimmie went in the house filled his bottle up the rest of the way with water so he would have more than Delores. In Feb. 1940 Jimmie went home from church with the Blands while he was there he took Delores doll outside & pulled the head, legs, arms and punched the eyes out he wanted to see how it worked. Well of course Delores ran in the house crying & saying look what he did. Dan & Winnie never told Fern & Winnie Bailey what their son had done cause they knew he would be punished. As the years rolled by the two families got together on several occasions. Jimmie was a little short fat frickled face boy but was cute and Delores had long curls, Jimmie was always pulling her hair and making her cry. His mother was always telling him to quit teasing her and he would always say "I aint doing nothing". Then came 1953 Fern bought a building were the city Auditorium is now. The two families tore down the building & moved the lumber to Lake Lavon to build a lake house for the Baileys. Then the year 1954 rolls around and Jimmie & Delores begin dating, they dated for about a year and decided to get married a few days before they were to marry Delores tells her parents, they asked her if Jimmie's parents knew? She said No. So on Monday when Dan got off the first part of his run he caught Ferns bus, as they both worked for Dallas Transit Co. as bus drivers. Fern was surprised to see Dan on his bus and wanted to know if something was wrong? Dan said no but I want to talk with you, Fern still didn't know why Dan was there. Dan said, well I am going to get to the point, Fern did you know Delores and Jimmie were getting married tomorrow which was a Tuesday, he said no, so when Fern got home from work that night he told Jimmie he wanted him to go up to Lake Lavon with him on Tuesday to unload some lumber. Jimmy said he would go but that he must be back by 2 or 3 o'clock. But the real reason Fern was taking him up to the Lake was to talk to him about getting married. Jimmie made it back in time and on that day May 31, 1955 at 4:00pm he drove with Delores to Rockwall to the Justice of the Peace and got Married, Dicky and Cathy Sorenson went with them to witness their marrage. Winnie Delores's mother remembers Jimmy saying he wanted hamberger money in his pocket because he didnot know if Delores could cook. Over the years he was noted as saying what a good meal she had cooked he really enjoyed it and what a real good cook she was. Amoung her other talents besides cooking was sewing she made dresses for her daughters, she loved working in the yard and most of all she loved her family This couple had 3 lovely children one son James Edward Bailey and two Daughters Theresa Jo Bailey and Lisa Dee Bailey. Jimmie and Delores were wonderful parents to their children and later on were wonderful grandparents to their grandchildren Tessa, Lauryn, Sara, Valerie and Jonathan and had many many life long friends. This couple was truly soul mates and lived a wonderful loving life together....
