Dale G. Holtzapple, 89,of York, died Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Manor Care Health Services, Dallastown. He was the husband of the late Pauline R. (Thomas) Holtzapple.

He was born April 7, 1919, in Shiloh, the son of the late Jacob D. and Iva (Gross) Holtzapple. Dale retired as a truck driver for the former R L Brandt Trucking Company after 28 years of service to the company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He served in the European Theatre with the 464th Ordnance Division. Dale was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church of York and the United Methodist Men. He was also a member of the Mt. Wolf Post 2493 VFW, the York Chapter 67 Izaak Walton League and the Viking Athletic Assoc. Dale attended the Eyster's one room schoolhouse in Taxville.

Survivors include a son, Crist A. Holtzapple and wife, Susan of Red Lion; a daughter, Beth E. Devcich and husband, David of Chantilly, Va.; and three grandsons, Matthew Devcich, Adam and Jacob Holtzapple. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two daughters, Sue Ellen and Donna Romaine Holtzapple; and a grandson, Isaac Daniel Holtzapple.

Burial will follow at Mount Rose Cemetery with graveside military honors by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
