GRANITEVILLE, S.C. - Mr. Charles Wyman Prosser, 80, of Graniteville, SC, husband of Esther Prosser and son of the late Charlie and Thelma Huff Prosser, died Thursday afternoon, October 16th, 2008. Born in and a lifelong resident of Aiken County, SC, he was a graduate of Aiken High School. A veteran of the Korean War, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was the founder of Prosser's Septic Tank Service and was a Crew Chief for the line department at Aiken Electric Cooperative. Mr. Prosser was for many years on the Board of Trustees at Aiken Electric Cooperative, was a member of Gloverville First Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the Horse Creek Masonic Lodge. He represented Area 3 for seven years on the Aiken County School Board and served for two years on the County Commission. In addition to his wife and parents, family members include sons, Michael Prosser, Sr., (Jan) Graniteville, SC, Terry Prosser, Sr., (Jo) West Columbia, SC, Tony Prosser, (Lynn) Beech Island, SC and Stan Cash, Jackson, SC; daughters, Debbie Caddell, North Augusta, SC and Patty Carswell, North Augusta, SC and the late Joy Prosser, sisters, Jean Wilson, Aiken, SC, Dot Littlefield, Atlanta, GA, the late Julia Jernigan and the late Nettie Gregory, grandchildren, Mike J. Prosser, Morgan Prosser, Jonathan Prosser, Terry Prosser, Jr., Zane Prosser, Shannon Prosser, Marlie Prosser, Andrea Keisler, Anthony Prosser, Josh Cash, Alexis Cash, Liz McClearn, Allison Caddell, Amy Snyder, and Patrick Carswell and great-grandchildren, Lauren Prosser, Nathan Prosser, Jayden Prosser, Ava Prosser, Ansley Prosser, Kenley Prosser, Wyatt McClearn, Kayla Wethington, Gabby Stewart, Trey Stewart, and Julianna Stewart and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 19th, 2008, at 3 o'clock at Gloverville First Baptist Church, Gloverville, SC, with Dr. Chris Masters and Rev. Bud Tumblin officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers will be Terry Prosser, Jr., Zane Prosser, Anthony Prosser, Mike J. Prosser, Jonathan Prosser, Josh Cash, and Patrick Carswell. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Trustees of Aiken Electric Cooperative. The family has asked that memorials be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or United Hospice of America. Friends may call at the family residence. The family will greet friends Saturday, October 18th, 2008 from 7 until 9 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC.
