Mr. Floyd Fleming, 81, of Gatesville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Live Oak Baptist Church.Burial will follow at the Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at the Gatesville Funeral Home.

Floyd was born in Coryell Count, Texas, to the late James Preston and Effie Chambers Fleming. He served in the United States Army for two years during World War II. He married Charlie Bauman in 1955 and they resided in Gatesville all their married lives. After he returned from his military service, he went to work for Troy Lee Hunt at Gatesville Commission Company, working as their bookkeeper for 40 years. He was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church and served as church treasurer for 40 years. He loved his church and his Christian friends. He enjoyed going to McDonald's every morning to meet and have fellowship with some of his friends.

His wife preceded him in death on January 5, 2006.

He is survived by his sister, Florene Dorsey, of Gatesville; sisters-in-law, Doris Fleming, of Tulia, and Annie Sinclair, of Michigan; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous friends.
