Bowen family accepted her into their temporary home on Dec 26 1895. She was never legally adopted by the Bowen family although she used the surname Bowen as her maiden name untill she married Edward Dennies. Cora did not know that the Bowen family had not adopted her until Edward's death in 1924 when she then contacted the Orphanage to obtain her file. The file did not contain any adoption papers but did have the surrender papers of her father, Edward Blackmer. No mother's name was found on record. See attached Temporary Home Admission.
