Erie Ethel Kniffen, daughter of Thomas Leonard Kniffen and Eliza Ann Aubel, was born on 8 December 1877 in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada. She and her husband Elmer came to Wichita, KS about 1904, where she gave birth on May 22, 1904 to twins John Fawcett and Neva Maud. The family remained in Wichita their entire lives, except for Elmer's couple of years with the YMCA, and were active in educational and social circles.
