Final Rites Held
For c. W. Parker,
Killed in Solomons
Graveside services were held Tuesday for Yeoman Second Class Charles W. Parker, of the U. S. Navy, who died, October 6, 19943, in the Solomon Islands. He was 23 years old.
A resident of Fairfax until he went in to the service, he was killed, according to reports when his ship was struck while lying off shore in Tulagi Bay.
American Legion Chaplin w. W. Elder, assisted by the Rev. Richard Crower, officiated at the graveside rites. Member of the American Legion served as pall bearers. Interment was in Fairfax under the direction of Johnson and Company.
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. M. N. Parker, of Fairfax; one brother, Melvin, of Fairfax, and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Ragland, also of Fairfax.
