Polly A. Smith, 83, of Van Buren died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, in a local nursing home. She was a homemaker and a member of Texas Road Church of Christ in Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray W. Smith; a son, Eddie Smith; a stepson, Phillip Smith; stepdaughter, Delores Nichols; both parents, William and Ada Knutson Ratliff; and one sister, Juanita Bray.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at Church of Christ in Healdton, Okla., with burial at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Healdton, Okla., under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by one daughter, Carole Julian and husband Ed, both of Rudy; one stepdaughter, Ina Chandler and husband Maurice, both of Little Rock; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl Smith of Austin, Texas; one son, Wayne Smith and wife Pat, both of Branson, Mo.; one brother-in-law, Raymond Bray of Healdton, Okla.; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
The family will visit with friends today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren and Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Church of Christ in Healdton.
