Mrs. Carrie Holt Barber was born in Decatur, Alabama and came to Texas when a small girl. In 1901 she was united in marriage to Doyle Barber. To this union three daughters were born, Mrs. L.A. Sawyer of Hubbard, Mrs. Odell Vardeman of Hubbard, and Mrs. H.B. Burford of Dallas.

She became a christian at an early age and united with the First Baptist Church of Navarro Mills in 1909. Upon moving to Dawson in 1916 she and her husband placed their membership with the First Baptist Church of Dawson where she remained a member until death.

Death came after an extended illness of two years. She passed from this life Nov. 20 at 9:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.

She loved people irrespective of race or color and will be missed by a host of friends. She loved to make drives in the country and took great delight in the beauties of nature. She loved to visit her friends and always had a cheery smile and word of encouragement for all.

She is survived by above mentioned daughters, three grandchildren, Jan, Glenda and Julianne. Three sisters, Mrs. S.J. McCulloch of Reed, OK, Mrs. F.L. Hopkins, Dallas, Mrs. Clayton Brown, Waco; one brother, Mr. G.A. Holt of Dawson
