Dunois D. Beman, 90, Watertown, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, in a care center at Clark.

Funeral services will be Thursday in the Mount Olive Lutheran Church at Watertown with the Rev. Iver Possehl officiating.

Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be his family and friends. Active pallbearers will be David Beman, Eric Beman, Eddie Beman, Christopher Stefani, Travis Schanbeck and Jim Lee.

Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel.

He was born April 24, 1918, in Watertown to Dick and Leona Mae (King) Beman. He graduated from Castlewood High School in 1936. He attended Dakota State University in Madison for two years.

He married Mavis Amundson in June of 1944 in Watertown.

He married Mae Schanbeck Dec. 31, 1959, in Clark. He worked as a farmhand, was a rural school teacher and also sold insurance. He worked for 13 years as a house parent at Redfield State Hospital and School. He also sold Fuller-Brush products for many years in the Clark-Watertown area. After he retired, he delivered medicine for Keiser Pharmacy.

He was a member of the Mount Olive Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae; two sons, David and Duane; and one daughter, Alice Lee.

Survivors include his children, Eleanor and her husband Donald Temple of Clark, Dennis and his wife Shirley Thompson of Elmwood, Neb., Donna Hughes of Highland Ranch, Colo., Darrell and his wife Edie Schanbeck and Larry and his wife Tina Schanbeck, all of Watertown; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bruce Beman of Clarksville, Tenn., and Maurice Beman of Rockton, Ill.; and three sisters, Lucy Hoftiezer of Watertown, Lois Menkveld of San Jose, Calif., and Wilma McCulley of Bismarck, N.D.
