Funeral services for George Alexander Goodner, 78, of Porum, OK, will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday November 22, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Porum with Reverend Curtis Locust officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Webbers Falls. Mr. Goodner was born November 21, 1927 at Porum the son of Frank and Bessie (Barnes) Goodner and died Monday November 20, 2006 at Warner. Mr. Goodner attended grade school at Briartown and graduated from Porum High School. He attended Connors State College, Northeastern State University, University of Idaho, Idaho State University and Tulsa University. He was a member of the first Masters Degree Class to graduate from Northeastern (1960). He was president of the Student Body his Senior year at Northeastern, high school principal in Idaho, taught at Idaho State University and University of Idaho. He retired from Tulsa Schools as a counselor and administrator. He worked as a teacher, counselor and administrator for 30 years. Mr. Goodner also served his country for four years in the US Navy. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Mr. Goodner was a member of the Oklahoma Association of Secondary School Principals, Muskogee County Retired Teachers Association, R H O Theta Sigma, Phi Delta Kappa, Phi Lambda Chi and Alpha Chi and was a past Commander of American Legion, Post #317. George was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Frank Jr. and Mack Goodner and two sisters, Bertha Taylor and Geneva Goodner. Survivors include three sisters, Fannie Stout of Porum, Christine Lawson of Fair Oaks, CA, Louise Coughran of Tulsa, three brothers, Joe Goodner of Porum, Phillips Goodner of Tulsa and Hershell Goodner of Oakdale, California.
