QUITAQUE - Vergil Frank Buckelew, 78, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lance Cypert, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors.
Mr. Buckelew was born in Cherokee County. He was a World War II veteran, serving as dispatcher. He was a farmer and had been a roughneck offshore in Louisiana and in the Midland and Odessa area. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Donny Buckelew of Lubbock; three daughters, Loretta Casper and Jo Mae Buckelew, both of Spokane, Wash., and Brenda Cook of Indiana; a brother, Richard Buckelew of Overton; four sisters, Dorothy Jean Cannon of Garland, Pete Morrison of Breckenridge, Linnie Buckelew of Plainview and Barbara Reed of Flomot; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
