DAVID CITY - D. Jean Grubaugh, 77, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of David City, died Friday Dec. 5, 2003, at her residence.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in David City with the Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Visitation is closed casket from 7-9 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home in David City. Burial will be at the David City Cemetery.
Mrs. Grubaugh married Joseph M. Grubaugh April 1, 1944. They later divorced.
She resided in the David City area until moving to Sun City, Ariz. in 2000. She owned and operated her own cosmetology practice out of her home for 53 years, making her the longest practicing operator in Nebraska at the time. She enjoyed art, music, reading, collecting, cooking, and decorating her home for the holidays.
Survivors include three sons: Don Grubaugh of Corpus Christi, Texas, Roger "Rip" (Leanna) Grubaugh of Seeley Lake, Mont., and Kim (Sarah) of Columbus, two daughters: Lynda (Dave) Lakin of Omaha and Beth (Mike) Lang of Tempe, Ariz., five brothers: Dick (Barbara) Meyers of Atlanta, Ga., Joe (J.J.) Meyers of Omaha, Bobby Meyers of Denver, Colo., Neil Meyers of Omaha, and Howard (Donna) of Fort Collins, Colo., three sisters: Mae Hennessy of Fremont, Babs Wolfgram of Plainview, and Lanie "Pug" Paul of Fort Collins, Colo., three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, two brothers, and one sister.
Memorials are suggested to the David City Library.
