Obituary.
James BLACK
Was born in Scotland, Nov. 1823, died at McLouth, February 14th, aged 71 years and 3 months. He was married to Miss Mary REID in 1845, to whom five sons and three daughters were born.
The funeral services were held in the baptist church Thursday at 1 o'clock and conducted by Rev. TAYLOR of Kansas City after which the remains were interred in the city cemetery. Four sons, James, John, and Mat of this place and Frank of Reymore, Mo., and one daughter, Mrs. T.E. DICK were present at the services. The bereaved friends have the sympathy of the entire community.

James Black and Mary Reid married in Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland on April 13, 1845. The 1851 Scotland Census lists his place of birth as Fifeshire. He was the son of Francis Black and Elizabeth Izet.
