Elmer J. Aamodt, age 80 and Mary L. Aamodt, age 75, passed away together June 6, 2008.

They had been married for 59 years.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Grand Prairie and Elmer was a resident of Grand Prairie for 60 years.

Elmer was born April 29, 1928 in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin.

Mary was born May 3, 1933 in Breckenridge, TX.

Elmer retired as the Grand Prairie Fire Marshall after 33 years of service with the department.

He also served as a Reserve Grand Prairie Police for over 30 years.

Mary retired as a Secretary from LTV.

Elmer was very active in the Grand Prairie Lions Club serving in various offices from Tail Twister to President.

Elmer and Mary loved and adored their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

They were members of Oak Cliff Lutheran Church for 58 years.

Elmer is preceded in death by his brothers Carl Aamodt and Arne Aamodt and sister Hilda Aamodt.

Mary is preceded in death by her brother Mickey Cochran.

They are survived by daughters: Sandy Farrow and husband Tom, Miki Krueger and husband Brant; grandchildren: Jason Raye and wife Christi, Kelli Ladewig and husband Lane, Kasey Lewis and husband Alistair, Dustin Raye and wife Brandi, Thomas Farrow, Kaylie Krueger and Mitchell Krueger; 4 Great Grandchildren. Elmer is also survived by a brother, Palmer Aamodt and a sister, Marie Larson.

Mary is also survived by brothers, Jesse Cochran and Don Cochran and sister, Frances Rathbone; They are also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Bean-Massey-Burge Funeral Home.

Services: Noon, Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Turnpike Church of Christ in Grand Prairie.

Interment: 2:30 p.m., Thursday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. Memorials may be made to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation at www.firehero.org.
