Mrs. Ward died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She had Alzheimer's disease.
She was born Aug. 13, 1910, in Lawrence, the daughter of Robert M. and May S. (Titterington) Rose. She attended Lawrence public schools and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in 1929. She lived in Lawrence all her life.
Mrs. Ward retired from Kansas University in 1979 as a custodian. She was a member of Indian Hills Church of God, Women's Christian Group and member and past president of Women's Christian Temperance Union. She also participated in the choir and taught vacation Bible school.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn J. Sharkey and Rose Marie French, both of Lawrence; a daughter-in-law, Gloria M. Ward, Lawrence; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
A son, Russell Allen Ward, died Feb. 18, 1992.
