HER OBITUARY:
DEATH CLAIMS PIONEER MRS. MARY BINGHAM, 83, SATURDAY MORNING
After an extended illness of many months, Mrs. Mary Isabell Bingham aged 83, passed away Saturday morning, Dec 23, at Brady Hospital. Of unusual vigor and vitatility until the last few years, she had been in declining health for two or three years, but determinedly resisted and minimized her ailments. She came of an exemplified pioneer stock that opened up and developed the West. She knew the ranching business from a practical, first hand standpoint, and with her husband, the late H. R. Bingham who died in 1935, was among the first successful sheep ranchers in this area.
Mrs. Bingham was born Mary Isabell Cupps in Missouri on Nov 10, 1867 and was married in 1891 to Mr. Bingham. They has lived in this area until her death for more than fifty years.
Survivors include seven daughters and a son: Mrs. Ellen Wade of Eden; Mrs. Roe Blackburn, of Blanco; Mrs. Albert Stoepler, Eden; Mrs. George Wagner, San Antonio; Mrs. Arthur Jackson, Happy; Mrs. Elmer Hibdon, San Antonio; Mrs. Veo Vardeman, Roswell N. Mex.; and Dewey Bingham of Eden. There are thirty-seven grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren, as well as several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were conducted at 4:30 Saturday afternoon at the Paint Rock Street Church of Christ, with which congregation she was united. Minister Travis Williamson, of San Angelo, officiating. Day-Loveless Funeral Home was in charge of burial arrangments, with interment being made in Eden cemetery.
Pallbearers were six of her grandsons, Frank Jackson, Junior Bingham, J. R. Bingham, George Stoepler, W. H. Hibdon, and Fritz Stoepler.
