Mrs. Mattie Alice Elmore, age 80, a resident of Pilot point for 60 years, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Sunday in a Denton Hospital.Funeral services were held at the Calvary Baptist Church, Pilot Point, Texas, at 3:00 pm., Tuesday, August 6, 1957, conducted by Rev. Arthur Grigg, pastor of The Calvary Baptist Church, and Mrs. John F. Roberts.

A quartet composed of J.L. Brown, Don Underwood, Billy Bob Davis and Mrs. Gene Berend sang "Rock of Ages", and Mrs. Berend and Billy Bob Davis sang "in the Sweet Bye and Bye." Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Elmore was born September 5, 1876, in Somerville County, Texas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard McFadden. She was married to Lee Elmore at Lewisville, Texas, on May 5, 1896. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist church. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Claud Sitzes of Pilot Point, Mrs. O.F. Barnett of Dallas, and Mrs. Scott Jacobs of Throckmorton, Texas. Also surviving are five sisters, 6 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Earl Cassity, Charlie Gladden, Monroe Moses, Lamar Whitley, Joe Jacobs, and Johnny Sitzes.
