Wally Ellis
Wally Ellis, 85, of Greenville, formerly of Floyd, died March 11, 2009, at his daughter's home in Hunt County. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Brian Bosworth officiating. Burial will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Ellis was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Floyd to Dud and Hallie Blakemore Ellis. In September of 1943, he married Geneva Arey in Oklahoma. He was a veteran of World War II serving the in U. S. Army and worked as a postmaster and rural mail carrier; he was also a store owner. He was a member of the Westview United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Tina Moore and husband Jimmy of Greenville; granddaughters Amie Hill and Kimberly Yosten and husband Terry, all of Greenville; a grandson, Brandon Moore of Sulphur Bluff; great-granddaughters Heather Hill, Michelle Davila and Fletcher Yosten; great-grandson Lance Kitchens; and great-great grandsons Kamrin Hill and Sayge Tredway.
He was preceded in death by his wife in October 1975; his parents; four brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Moore, Brandon Moore, and Terry Yosten.
The family requests memorials be made to the Westview United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
