Mari (née Zielinski) passed away suddenly on Jan 17, 2024 due complications from a stroke. Shei was born on Dec. 12, 1938 in Honesdale, PA and raised in Bergen County, NJ.
She attended private Catholic school most of her childhood, but when her family move to Ramsey, she convinced her dad to let her attend public school. She graduated from Ramsey High with honors, hoping to attend college for Accounting.
She worked as a 411 telephone operator for New Jersey Bell, had four children and spent the majority of her working life caring for her family.
She was proud of her Polish heritage and throughout the years found pleasure in her Siamese cats, listening to music, watching game shows and old country westerns. She loved cooking, sewing, and baking pies. She would often get asked for her famous crust recipe. She was a voracious reader and kept abreast of current events. She readily shared her knowledge with others and loved having a" good conversation".
She liked to travel but always called New Jersey her home. She moved to AZ in 2019 to be closer to family.
A generous, caring mother and friend with a fine sense of humor, she will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers or trees, contributions can be made in her name: Mary Rassner Memorial Scholarship Fund—Ramsey High School, 256 E Main St, Ramsey, NJ 07446: Phone: (201) 785-2300
