Melissa Kay Aars, beloved wife, mother, and Oma, passed away after a brief battle with lung cancer on Dec. 30, 2023, at the age of 70. She was surrounded by her family.

Melissa was born on Oct. 23, 1953, in Fort Stockton, Texas. She met Alton Allen Aars at Clifton High School and the two were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Aug. 21, 1971. She faithfully lived beside her high school sweetheart for 52 years.

Melissa devoted her life to serving the Lord and fiercely loving her family. She also spent her time enjoying the outdoors and tending to her farm by caring for her deer, hummingbirds, and other wildlife. When not outdoors, she enjoyed cooking for her family and reading.

She was most proud of the beautiful family she created and spoiling her grandchildren. We have all been blessed by the influence she has had on our lives and will share loving memories of her forever.

Melissa was preceded in death by her father William Matthew Moore, her mother Mildred Frances Lanehart Moore, brother Melvin Brett Moore, uncle Werner Philipp, and aunt Wilma Sue Philipp.

Melissa will be laid to rest at the Clifton Memorial Cemetery.
