Ruth Charleen Alexander Gilbert, 90, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at Gordon Hospice House, in Statesville, North Carolina. She was born on September 17, 1933, in Mooresville, North Carolina, to Victor Ralph Alexander and Addie Mae Woods.

Charleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl W. Gilbert, Sr.; nine brothers and sisters; and son-in-law, Arthur Evans.

She is survived by her children, Carl W. Gilbert, Jr. (Branda), and Bridget Evans; grandchildren, Carl W. Gilbert, III (Susie), Holly Renee Gilbert, Jesse Garcia, and Xavier Garcia; and great grandchildren, Samantha and Caroline Gilbert.

Charleen graduated from Belmont High School, and retired from Thorlo, where she worked for over 30 years. She was also a member of Cochran Street Bible Church.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, in Statesville.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, in Mt. Holly, North Carolina, with Pastor James Lewis officiating.
