Joyce Dee Dirks, 87, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Pine Village. She was born on April 21, 1936, in Halstead, Kansas, the daughter of Daniel T. and Anna M. (Krehbiel) Stucky.

She graduated from Moundridge High School and later received her associate's degree from Sidney's Hairdressing College in Hutchinson.

Joyce was a devoted homemaker. Once her children were all in school, she worked in the cafeteria as a cook at Moundridge schools. After she earned her cosmetology license, she owned and operated Headlines, a salon that was added to her home in Moundridge.

She was united in marriage to Royce J. Graber on August 3, 1954. Though this marriage was not permanent, they did have six children together that they couldn't be more proud of. Joyce married B.C. Dirks on December 15, 1990. He added six adult children and their families to this large, blended family. She was preceded in death by both Royce and B.C.

Joyce was a member of West Zion Mennonite Church in Moundridge. She had a very strong faith and was a devout Christian. One of her favorite things was sharing the word of God.

She had a special love for music and participated in many music groups during her life.

She is survived by her sons, Steve (Linda) Graber of Moundridge, and Kenton (Judy) Graber of Lecompton; daughters, Julie Graber (Mark Premock) of Chicago, IL, Lisa (Bob) Stroble and Sheila (Jason) Walker all of Manhattan, and Shawn (Lonnie) Funk of Branson West, MO; step-sons, Bruce (Sonyia) Dirks of Oklahoma City, OK, Barry (Cheryl) Dirks of St. Johns, FL, David (Sherrie) Dirks of McPherson, and Kenny (Tammy) Dirks of Pocasset, OK; step-daughters, Debra (Joe) Lichti of Moundridge and Patti (Dale) Moddelmog of Moundridge; sister, Marianne (Kenroy) Janzen of Rapid City, SD; sisters-in-law, Kay Stucky of Inman, Barbara Stucky of Moundridge, and Linda Stucky of Wichita; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.

Joyce was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Harvey (Sally) Stucky, LeRoy Stucky, Edwin (Dorothy) Stucky, Mike Stucky and Dan Stucky; and two sisters, Helen (Jonas Flickner, Harold) Montgomery and Ethel Stucky.

Private graveside services will be held at West Zion Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 18, 2023, at West Zion Mennonite Church. Family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, December 17, at Moundridge Funeral Home.
