Helen Darlene Denton, 90, of Statesville, NC, formerly of Sullivan, passed away 8:05 p.m. Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, at The Greens at Maple Leaf Nursing Home, Statesville, NC.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 11th, 2023, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Marrowbone Township Cemetery, Bethany. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
Darlene was born December 26, 1932, in Bethany; the daughter of Delbert Roscoe and Lura Ethelyn (Williams) Dinwiddie. She married Norman Burwell, Jr. on December 29, 1951, in Bethany; he preceded her in death on June 4th, 2009. She later married Floyd Eugene Denton on January 7, 2012, in Sullivan; he preceded her in death on October 2, 2018. Darlene was a member of the Sullivan American Legion Auxiliary Post #68, the Sullivan Church of God, Moose Lodge Auxiliary Post #2117 and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Brickler of Tell City, IN, Becky Stephens of Charleston and Charles (Sandra) Burwell of Statesville, NC. Darlene is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and 1 brother.
