Elizabeth Ann Kennedy was the daughter of William Potter Kennedy and Elizabeth Armstrong Means. She was first married to Benjamin F Hutchins in Greene County, Alabama in 1846. He died in 1848.

She then married John Cooper Dunn on April 6, 1852 in Greene County, Alabama. They made their home in Lauderdale Co., Mississippi and John Cooper Dunn built what is known as Dunns Falls.

Elizabeth and John had seven children:

Laura Virginia Dunn who married Edward Young Rew
Horace Leroy Dunn who married Annie Lavinia King
Mary Etta "Tode" Dunn who married George Robert Olliphant
Alice Ida "Lilly Dunn who married William B Smith
Julia Kate Dunn who died at the age of 3
Charles Kennedy Dunn who married Lula Crisler
Susan Pauline "Susie" Dunn who married Martin Leonidus Buckley
