Here's Jessy's story from www.lifestorynet.com:

A beautiful young lady with an unforgettable smile, Jessica "Jessy" Kohler always found something in life to be excited about. She approached everything with optimism, energy and a contagious smile that anyone near her couldn't help but catch.

From the beginning, Jessica Kohler was determined to do things on her own terms and in her own way. Much to her mother's dismay, baby Jessy was born in breach position at 5:21 a.m. on January 12, 1985, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Nonetheless, her parents, Mark and Katherine (Wolters) Kohler, couldn't have been happier to hold their new bundle of joy.

Just a petite thing, Jessy weighed in at 7 lbs. 2 oz. and 20 ½ in. long, but it wasn't long before she was giving her parents a run for their money with her boatload of energy. Jessy was such a happy baby with a smile that could melt any heart. However, behind that smile was also a stubborn streak that perhaps landed her in some mischief a time or two. Jessy did everything "full speed ahead", which probably accounted for her walking and talking early. When she was just a year old, her family moved from Oshkosh to Lake Doster near Plainwell, Michigan. Here, Jessy received her education at Starr Elementary School and went on to graduate from Plainwell High.

Jessy worked hard in whatever job she held. Recently, she was working at Medical Engineering & Design, though she had just been accepted at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, and was excited to start on her future as a dental hygienist. Outside of work, Jessy loved to spend time with her many friends, who meant a lot to her. Very creative, she had a real knack for decorating and enjoyed using her creativity in scrapbooks. Jessy also decorated her body with art - well tattoos anyway, the first of which she got at the age of 17. If asked, she had a story behind every tattoo. Another place Jessy was creative was in the kitchen; she was a great cook, though the kitchen was never the same when she was done.

In March of 2007, a wonderful thing happened to Jessy – she met a young man named Ben Sigurdson at a Jars of Clay concert through a mutual friend. Like "two peas in a pod", the two got along so well and had much in common. Moreover, Ben loved Jessy's zany personality. It wasn't long before Ben and Jessy moved in together. Jessy loved their dogs and took them everywhere, proudly showing them off. Filbert, a Yorkie, Jessy had for many years, and she called him her "right hand man." As a couple, Ben and Jessy did everything together. They traveled quite a bit and had gone to a Detroit Lion's game, hit the roller coasters at Cedar Point and even went fishing. This summer they enjoyed the zoo together, which Jessy numbered to one of her best days ever!

Jessy died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, December 28, 2007, at the age of 22. Although her life was all too brief, Jessy was a person who lived her life to the fullest. Her memory will live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives she touched with her contagious smile, her spunky personality and her overwhelming love for everyone and everything.

To learn more about Jessy, visit with her family on Wednesday, January 2nd, from 5-8 p.m. and on Thursday, January 3rd, from 3-5 p.m. at the Life Story Funeral Home, RDMG, 120 S.
