Sheryl Sue Vandlingham joined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on February 4, 2022. She recently made her 65th birthday, she unfortunately never retired. She is preceded in death by her biological parents, William Acie Pipkins and Nelda Ruth George, brother Michael Ray Pipkins and her adoptive parents, Albert Lewis Hood and Devethea Mae Hood.

She was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and was raised in New Caney, Texas. She married and had two children and raised them in Vardaman, Mississippi. She later divorced, married a second time and divorced again.

She was a loving mother of two children, Charles Amos Barnette and Chrystal Barnette the best mother-in-law to Winona Kerry Barnette and an even better Nana to her three grandchildren, Angelina, Anthony, and AJ. She became a great-grandmother last year with the birth of her great-grandson Colton Grey Rageur and was super excited for the birth of her great-granddaughter Riverlynn Rageur. She is survived also by nieces and nephews Jeffrey, Amy and Anthony Pipkins and his wife Rebecca, great nephew Asher Blankenship and great niece Kylie Pipkins.

She moved back to Missouri in 2010 to reconnect with her biological mother. There she and her "partner in crime" and sister-in-law, Debbie Decker would enjoy road trips, going out to eat, and volunteering at her church. Sheryl was an active member of Faith Community Church lead by Pastor Rick Jones. She also enjoyed visiting family for the holidays.

Sheryl was an avid amateur genealogist. In the 80s she would take her children to libraries and search for family records. Later on she was the family historian using sites like Ancestry.com. She kept detailed records and knew who's who from the top of her head. Her son, Charles and his wife, Winona will carry on the torch.

Sheryl loved to crochet. She has made everything from hats and scarves to King size blankets for family and friends.

Sheryl loved attending baseball games at Bush Stadium. She loved both the Astros and the Cardinals. She attended many of the games and would follow any game she was unable to attend.

Sheryl will be cremated and a Celebration of Life service will be held at Faith Community Church. The date and time will come at a later date.
