Funeral services for Elvis Wiley Allen, 79, Athens are scheduled for Thursday December 22nd, 11:00 AM, Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Ken Jones officiating, interment will follow at the Malakoff Cemetery.

Mr. Allen passed away December 19, 2005 in Athens.

He was born on May 3rd, 1926 in Malakoff to the late Earl & Beulah Watkins Allen. He spent 30 years as a butcher, working for Tom Thumb, Weingarten's and being self employed. He served in the United States Army during World War II and after being honorably discharged he returned to his home and worked at the Kirby Food Store in Malakoff. Mr. Allen was a long time rancher living in Terrell and Dallas with his final retirement in Athens in 1999. He married Edna Harris on February 6th, 1946 and she preceded him in death on September 21st, 2002 after 57 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ernest Allen and Alton Allen and brothers-in-law, Ralph Carter, Edward Cook and Perry Trammell.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Elvis & Connie Allen, Billy & Lisa Allen, daughter and son-in-law, Shirley & Murray Edwards, all of Athens, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sisters, Agnes Carter, Blanch Trammell and Virginia Cook.

Pallbearers include Christopher Allen, Wesley Allen, Derek Allen, Glenn Edwards, Richard Ryon and Rusty Ryon.

He has been lifted up on the wings of Angels and gone to meet all those he loved and that have gone to prepare the way for him. We rejoice in his life and pray for solace in his death.
