Gene Roy Ross, age 68, of Strunk, Kentucky, passed away at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
Gene was born to the late Charles Curtis Ross and the late Marie Edna (Baird) Ross on July 9, 1954. He was of the Baptist faith and a member at the Lower Hickory Grove United Baptist Church. He was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team and would enjoy watching the women's softball team as well. Among his special gifts, his ability to remember everyone's birthday was unrivaled.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Glen Charles Ross.
Gene is survived by a large host of loving family, including : his brother, Dwight Anthony Ross (Stephanie), of Strunk; his sister, Elaine (Ross) Clark; his nephews, Cody Ross (Jera), Joshua Clark (Heidi); his nieces, Jessica (Clark) Roth (Heidi), Katelyn (Clark) Tisdale (Brian), Megan (Ross) Gehring (Kyle); and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Gene's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 2:00pm EST at the McCreary County Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Sewell officiating. The family will accept friends for visitation Wednesday after 12:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow the funeral service and will be in the Troxell Cemetery in Strunk, Kentucky.
