John Memory McGarity is the son of Wilson and Angeline McMullen McGarity. He served in the Civil War Company K Henry Volunteers in the 22nd Reg GA Vol Inf. He first married Sarah Elizabeth Bledsoe 19 Feb 1867, they had no children. He second married Sarah Frances Stowers 10 Dec 1870 and they had the following children: Archer Seaborn, John Floyd, Ida, Anna Ester. He third married Ellen B. Chafin 19 Feb 1882 and they had the following children: Vesta Ophelia, Minnie A., Robert W., Florance Ernest.
