Jeremiah Abner McGarity is the son of Wilson and Angeline (McMullen) McGarity and died at his home in old Campbell County, now Fulton. He was probably named for his two grandfathers Abner McGarity and Jeremiah McMullen. He married Kezziah Ross White b 18 Oct 1843,and they had 7 children (3 who died as infants)and 2 daus: Angeline Jane,Susan Elizabeth, 2 sons: William W., Sanford Stephen. Jeremiah served in the Civil War with the Henry Volunteers, Company K of the 22nd Reg of the GA Vol Inf along with two of his brothers, John Memory McGarity and Thomas McGarity.

Obit published ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 1 May 1911 MORTUARY. Death of Jerry McGarity. McDonough, GA, April 30-Jerry McGarity, aged 77, died at his home in Campbell County Saturday. The body was brought to McDonough and the interment was at Turner's Church, Sunday morning at 11 o'clock. He is surved by his wife, two sons, Willis and Sanford McGarity, and two daughters, Mrs. Will Oakley and Mrs. Jenny Renfroe, of Campbell County; four brothers, J.M., E.S., G.M., and A.W. McGarity, and one sister, Mrs. Dave Wilson, all of Henry County.
