Phillip Wayne Ives took his final breath in the evening of Sept. 3, 2022, in his home in North Pole, Alaska. Although his death was sudden, he enjoyed his final months being around family and friends. A private viewing and celebration of life took place on Sept. 9. His friends and family ate food, enjoyed each other's company, and reminisced about the life he had, just as he would've wanted.
Phillip was born Nov. 10, 1956, in Norfolk, Virginia. He spent half his adult life in Oregon where he became an ASE Certified Technician and got an associate's degree which qualified him to teach computer classes at a community college. Following that, he was a fisherman on a commercial boat. The other half of his adult life was spent in North Pole, Alaska, where he began a small computer technician business. Phillip was a beloved son, brother, father and grandfather. He had always been a constant for his grandchildren and was there for them when needed. He had the kindest heart, he'd make friends with his pharmacists, local baristas, bank employees and the employees at Jiffy Lube. He would start a conversation with anyone who would listen; he always told the best stories, most the time he told them more than once.
Phillip is survived by his aunt, Carol Ives; brother, Gregory (Jocelyn) Ives; sister, Malia Ives; son, Charles Ives; daughter, Diana Ives; son-in-law, Ignacio Perez; honorary daughter, Rachal Rice; grandchildren, Mahryah Rice, Nick Rice, Andrew Gaines, Omar Perez, Kaylee Ives-Perez, Emma Williams, Pre Williams, Pyriella Rice, Jordan Perez, Jayden Perez, Jupiter Rice, as well as those few honorary grandchildren he picked up along the way.
He is preceded in death by his, father, Norman Ives, and mother, Joan Ives.
