SAKALAS, Peter George "Pete". December 30, 2022. Age 81. Beloved husband of the late Marlene Virginia Piet. Loving father of Larry Sakalas (Veronica), Lorrie Sakalas (Steven Noble), Matthew Sakalas (Tina), and Mike Sakalas (Cindy). Proud and loving grandfather of Josh, Chloe, Stella, Carson, Henry, Hank, and Bryce. Dear brother of Evelyn Lipsmeier and the late Barbara Hagopian and brother-in-law and best friend of Tom Piet. Pete started his career at Uniroyal, moved to Chrysler, and finished his career in 2008 with 25 years at TACOM as a mechanical engineer. While working for the US Government he consulted with the Pentagon and other leading Defense Departments.
Pete was passionate about fishing, bowling, golfing and playing softball with his sons and friends. He was a proud Honorary Member of the Warthogs Motorcycle Club and a member of the Rotary Club throughout the years. He loved to travel the world, especially to Australia where he embedded himself into the culture. He spent time over 10 years traveling Australia & Asia and making friends everywhere he landed.
His true love was supporting his kids and grandchildren, and attending their various sporting events across the US. If you didn't have coffee with Pete, you would have missed a story or a moment.
Pete will be defined by his laugh, his smile, and his love for life. Please come honor him at his Visitation Tuesday 3-9pm with a 7pm Rosary at Wujek - Calcaterra Funeral Home, 36900 Schoenherr Road, (16 Mile). Funeral Wednesday at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren for 11am Mass. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township. Memorial contributions to the Southern Macomb Warthogs Motorcycle Club are appreciated. Warthogs MC raises funds for law enforcement and other Emergency responders, injured or killed and their families.
