SAN ANGELO - Hazel Nadine Land, age 88, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Robert Lee Care Center. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, officiated by the Rev. Kerry Peacock. Services are directed by Johnson's Funeral Home. Hazel was born to Tom and Belle Perry on Dec. 5, 1919, in Hico, Texas. She graduated from Hico High School and married Henry Land in 1941. They lived in Texas City until 1949, then moved to San Angelo. She enjoyed her job as switchboard operator for General Telephone Co. for 34 years, and Cablevision for 18 years as a salesperson. Hazel was a member of Harris Avenue Baptist Church. She loved to work with Sunday School class members, and served as co-chairman of Hospitality House. She also enjoyed delivering Meals for the Elderly, which was a great highlight for her. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and two brothers. Survivors include two sons, KEN LAND Ken Land and his wife ANGIE LAND of San Angelo, and Don Land of Austin; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
