Kay was born June 12, 1943, in Westmoreland, KS the daughter of Sylvester and Katherine Fox Lolley. She was the youngest of six children. She attended Reves School in rural Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1961. She later attended and graduated from Professional Beauty College in Kansas City, KS.
Kay owned and operated Joy and Kay's Beauty Shop in Bonner Springs, along with Joy (Teske) Zabel. Kay worked as the Assistant Post Master at the Wheaton Post Office for several years. She also worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide in Westmoreland and in Onaga and cleaned houses until she retired in 2008.
Kay married Franklin L. Abitz on June 23, 1962, at St Michaels Catholic Church, Wheaton. He preceded her in death in 2012. Kay was also preceded in death by a daughter Michelle "Shelly" Weisbender in 1994, her brothers Sylvester T. Lolley (infant) in 1931, Donald R. Lolley in 2007, Gerald E. Lolley in 2005 and a sister Marjorie "Sis" Lolley Walsh in 1971.
Kay was a member of St Michael's Catholic Church in Wheaton.
Kay is survived by a sister Delia "Dee" Goodman, Centralia. Two daughters, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, great- nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
