Son of Samuel Gibson and Rutha Hall

He enlisted in Company I, 3rd Tennessee Cavalry during the Civil War as a Private.
He was captured in Sulphur Branch Trestle, Alabama on September 25, 1864, and became a prisoner of war.
He perished April 27, 1865 in the explosion of the steamboat Sultana.
